<Dummy> 연작은 이미지를 수집하는 것에서 시작된다. 일상에서 마주하는 것에서 시작하여, 스마트폰으로 접하게 되는 ‘부정함＇에 관한 모든 이미지들을 사진첩에 저장해둔다. 그러나 이 이미지들이 모두 혐오물에만 국한된 것은 아니다. 그 중에는 성화나 불화도 있으며, 아주 일상적인 사물이나 아름다운 식물도 있다. 나는 어떤 대상들을 볼 때에 그 안에서 ‘부정함＇의 코드를 읽으려 애쓴다. 그리고 그에 부합한다면 나의 사진첩에 저장된다.작업의 과정에서 그 이미지들을 직-간접적으로 참고하게 된다.

작업에서 이 이미지들은 그대로 재현되지 않는다. 이것들은 서로 교배되거나 변형되기도 하며, 때로는 그 과정에서 전혀 다른 형상이 되기도 한다. 그러나 중요한 것은 이미지를 구현하는 방식에 있어서 종교의 도상기호의 형식을 빌려온다는 것이다.

종교의 도상기호는 일정하게 반복되는 도식들이 존재한다. 화면 안에서 형상들이 배치되는 방식이나, 그것을 장식하는 도식의 형태, 혹은 반복되는 수와 관련되어 나타나는 기호-도상들의 표출 방법들. 이것들은 작업의 원전이 되는 부정함의 대상들을 포착하는 방식으로 기능한다. 또한 부정한 것을 대하는 나의 태도를 스스로 통제하려는 나름대로의 규율이다.

A series of "Dummy" begins with collecting images. Starting with everyday encounters, all images of 'negative' are stored in the photo album. But not all of these images are confined to hate. Some of them are sacred or discord, and some are very everyday objects or beautiful plants. I try to read the code of 'negative' in it when I look at certain objects. And if it fits, it is saved in my photo album.In the process of work, the images are referred directly or indirectly.

In the work, these images are not reproduced as they are. These are interbreeded or altered, sometimes in a completely different shape in the process. But the important thing is to borrow the form of religious icon in the way images are embodied.

The icon of religion is the constant repetition of late-night snacks. Symbolic-previous presentation methods that appear in relation to the way shapes are placed on the screen, the form of the schematic decorating them, or the number of repetitions. These function in such a way as to capture the objects of negativity that are the source of the work. It is also my own discipline to control my attitude toward injustice.
